F&O Multisource Exchange Rate connects Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations to public exchange rate APIs, starting with the Bank of Canada. Each run checks rates against the last ones stored, holds unusual movements for approval, and leaves a full audit trail.
Run history shows what each import proposed, stored, held or skipped, so finance sees exactly why a rate did or didn't change.
| Pair | Previous | Source rate | Movement | Decision |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| USD / CAD | 1.3712 | 1.3698 | −0.10% | Imported |
| EUR / CAD | 1.4921 | 1.4921 | 0.00% | Unchanged |
| GBP / CAD | 1.7410 | 1.8102 | +3.97% | Held for review |
| CAD / USD | 0.7293 | 0.7300 | +0.10% | Imported · inverse |
| MXN / CAD | 0.0741 | — | — | Missing |
Illustrative example. Held rates wait for a reviewer to approve, override or dismiss them; expected pairs that don't arrive are flagged as missing.
Calls the provider over HTTPS for the date range, with timeouts and automatic retries.
Reads the JSON or XML response into currency pairs and dates using the profile's mapping.
Checks freshness, conflicts, existing rates and the movement against the previous rate.
Passes accepted rates to the standard Import currency exchange rates process.
Confirms what was actually stored, sets the final run status and emails the result.
Create a ready-made profile for the Bank of Canada Valet daily rates. It starts disabled with inactive pairs, so you choose exactly which currencies to bring in.
Configure other JSON or XML feeds without code: URL templates with date and currency tokens, record and field paths, date formats, and encrypted API keys sent as a header or query parameter.
Import the quoted pair as published, store its inverse, or derive a cross rate through a base currency. Rate units (for example per 100) and decimals are handled per profile.
Rates that move more than your tolerance are held. Reviewers approve them, override the final rate with a note, or dismiss them so they're never stored.
Publications older than your limit are refused, expected pairs that don't arrive are flagged, conflicting quotes are rejected, and existing rates are only replaced when you allow it.
See what a profile would propose for a date range, or check the latest publication and response mapping, without storing a single rate.
Each import, preview and test is logged with its counts, HTTP status, redacted request URL, payload hash, every pair's decision and who resolved held rates.
A follow-up step confirms which rates F&O stored, sets the final status, and emails a summary of imported, unchanged, held, rejected and missing rates.
Providers appear in the standard Import currency exchange rates process and its batch scheduling. Profiles can be moved between environments with data entities.
Sets up API profiles and currency pairs, runs connection tests and previews, and schedules imports and reconciliation.
Reviews run history and approves, overrides or dismisses rates held by the tolerance check.
